Welcome to my new blog!

Explanation is in order, because it's not exactly a new blog, but a blog with a new 'coat'! Over the last few weeks, I have been experimenting with different layouts, templates and learning loads about html codes.

I still don't understand most of it, but somehow I managed to change and adapt this beautiful template. And why did I do it? Well, I like to tinker... and besides after a couple of years I wanted something different. I toyed with the idea of Wordpress, SquareSpace and other blogging platforms, but in the end choose to stick with Blogger for my Handmade Living Blog and both my baking and chocolate making blog re-start directly on my website. I know, it would be much easier to just have a one blog, but there is just so much I want to write about that would not quite fit within the main website.

If anyone is interested in adopting a new template I found the best and free templates are on Blogger Templates . You do need to have a basic understanding of html codes or just know where to add your Facebook or Twitter link and amend your menu. Once you work this one out, the next thing that I struggled with was my Blogger actually accepting the template. I had to save and download the template every time I needed to change something. From the many forums I have red, this is common, so don't be put off by it.

I also wanted to change my website header, so called for PicMonkey help. If you have not come across it, do try it: most of it is free and you can edit your pictures as well as make beautiful collages.

Just an example of what I made with PicMonkey for my website
I would like to enlist your help and let me know which of these header you prefer. Ideally you need to see it with the website, which might be a bit tricky, but here is a link to give you an idea.

Header No.1
Header No.2
Header No.3
Header No.4

Love to know what you think and I'm off to explore what everyone else has been up to on Handmade Monday.

  3. I really like your new look although it has crossed my mind to ask why is something so seemingly easy always so hard? As for your headers I like number 1 or 4 I think. Not an easy decision though ....

    1. Yes, I know what you mean, the instructions simply say 'download' and 'use', but I suspect there are some invisible gremlins inside my laptop that just make it difficult for me....

  4. I think I like number 4 best. Although it might make people think that you only do cookery, so number 3 is a close second.

  5. For me, I'd choose header 4, but that may have something to do with the chocolates and raspberries! I've tinkered with the layout of my own blog but not gone as far as you have. Which looks lovely by the way☆
