Handmade Teddy Bears

It's so lovely to be snowed in, drinking hot chocolate and working away in my craft room. Until last year, I would be panicking, stressing and making work action plans in a case of snow. Now, my work is mainly home based, so I can just enjoy it and if I can't get somewhere I don't...

So, being snowed in, gave me chance to finish off some projects I have started before Christmas and run out of time. I make these lovable teddy bears sometimes for friends and as commissions and really wanted to spend some time matching up the fabric with my vintage buttons and some cute ribbons that I found in my material stash.

This teddy bear is about 50 cm long, when standing and is made from Laura Ashley Fabric. It has roses pattern on it and it's exactly my style - faded, brown and rustic fabric.

This bear is made from off white thick cotton and complimented with flowery fabric patches and cheery pink ribbon. The last bear on this photo is smaller size (about 30 cm) and is made from brownish fabric with small white dots. I think, the pink bow goes really well with this shade of brown.

I'm glad I had the chance to finish these teddy bears because next month I will be running a workshop at Make it Create it Love it in Sittingbourne, Kent and I'm really looking forward to it. It's a little gem tucked away from the main town, but with really welcoming atmosphere and good facilities. The sewing studio is large room equipped with sewing machines, large tables and lots of sewing and textile books for inspiration. Over the next few weeks, I will be preparing students sewing kits with full step by step descriptions on how to make the teddy bear, cutting out the templates, sourcing fabric, buttons and ribbons.

So, that's enough from me this week and as usual I'll pop over to Handmade Monday to see my virtual colleagues have been up to this week. And if my memory serves me right, this week is the 100 Handmade Monday, so as I challenge I will try to pop in to everybody's blog this week.

I particularly like the patches in patterned fabric, they add just the right amount of colour and also lots of cute appeal! x
